That is not a marketing line but the reason I rent this apartment the way I like to arrive somewhere myself: a warm parlour, fresh towels and plenty of room — plus a tiled stove you can light yourself in winter. That kind of warmth feels different from any radiator.

After a long mountain hike, a bike ride or a day on the slopes — here you have room to spread out: 80 m² on two floors, the wood-panelled parlour with its corner bench, two balconies facing the mountains. Summer days belong to the deckchairs and the grill in the private garden. In winter you light the tiled stove: it warms you through and dries wet gloves and jackets along the way.

The family ski area Ratschings-Jaufen is a walk away, and in the evening your skis stay in the depot at the valley station. Two ski schools and ski and toboggan rental are right there. You do not have to climb up to the 5 km toboggan run — the lift takes you comfortably to the top, which is ideal with children, and nothing stands between you and the ride down. The cross-country network starts 1.5 km from the apartment: 28 km, split between the valley trail in the Ratschings valley and the high-altitude trail on the Platschjoch. Winter in Ratschings never gets dull.
The lifts take you up to cooler heights: a mountain playground for children, a Kneipp water course and alpine huts serving hearty food. Further into the valley you will find a climbing garden and a via ferrata, plus a lovely barefoot path with a refreshing Kneipp course and spots for a picnic. If you want to go high, peaks such as the Jaufenspitz or the Hohe Kreuzspitze are waiting. Also worth a visit: the Gilfenklamm gorge and the Ridnaun mine, where you walk into the tunnels and explore the mountain from the inside.
